
José Casinha is a seasoned senior executive with over 25 years of experience in the ICT sector, specializing in risk management, cybersecurity, and governance, working with both public and private organizations, as well as technology integrators and telecommunications service providers. Throughout his career, at Oni, José has built and led teams delivering managed security services across various industries, including software, finance, pharmaceuticals, oil, and utilities.
He has hands-on experience in implementing and managing Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs) and deploying large-scale cloud security solutions, particularly in AWS environments. His expertise also extends to promoting and orchestrating DevSecOps practices and ensuring security is integrated into the software development lifecycle.
José has held leadership positions in organizations such as OutSystems, where he served as the inaugural CISO, leading the company’s security strategy and driving key certifications including SOC 2, HIPAA, and ISO 27001. He also played a pivotal role in establishing the Security Operations Center (SOC) and the CERT/CSIRT, growing a high-performing, follow-the-sun team.
Currently, José is a Board Member at Associação DNS.PT, where he leads initiatives on cybersecurity, innovation, and IT infrastructures for Portugal’s country code top-level domain (.pt). He also advises Miio Electric as Chief Information Security Officer and is actively engaged in the Cybersecurity Advisors Network (CyAN).
José holds an MBA, a Master's degree in Computer Science, and several esteemed certifications, including CISSP, CISA, PMP, CCISO, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer; ISO 20000 Lead Auditor and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor. He is also a sought-after educator, delivering lectures on topics such as risk management, information security, cloud Security and Business Continuity at institutions like Rumos, Universidade Atlântica and ISEG Executive Education.
